Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated as much in the USA as it is in Mexico. We Americans know how to party - any excuse for tacos and margaritas has to be good, right?

The Golden Eagle is the national bird of Mexico. Not chosen at random, this bird was part of the Aztec legend of how the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan (present-day Mexico City) was founded.

The Aztecs, guided by the prophecies of Huitzilopochtli (the god of the sun and war), ended their migration from farther north by building Tenochtitlan, on an island in a lake where an eagle held a snake perched on a flowering nopal (prickly pear) cactus.

About Robin Wiesneth

Robin Wiesneth

Putting the fun in Fine Art! Welcome to my collection of whimsical art. I’m a lifelong artist, and no matter what style or subject I attempt, it always seems to have a bit of humor in it. I primarily work with acrylic paints and sculpting clay to create works of art you’re not likely to see anywhere else. I often do commission work, especially animal portraits, so drop me a message if you have an idea for a portrait. Enjoy browsing my collection here on “Fine Art America”. Commissioning your own painting with me is super easy. Why not surprise a loved one with an original portrait of a pet? Prices for an original painting created to your specifications start at $100. All paintings are museum-quality work, no matter the size....
